Stormy Weather Arts Festival: Intro to Woodblock Printmaking with Karina Andrews

Description

Explore the meditative process of woodblock printmaking in this beginners workshop led by local artist Karina Andrews of OysterHillPress. We will learn the basics of woodblock printmaking including composition, image transfer, carving, ink mixing, block registration and hand printing techniques in an encouraging and fun group setting. Students leave with a two-sided, hand-carved woodblock, their own miniature registration board, and 2-5 handmade prints featuring Haystack Rock, reflecting each participant’s individual style and experience during the Stormy Weather Arts Festival. Workshop is geared towards beginners but all skill levels are welcome. 

Materials included for students: 
Basic instructions, densely pigmented transfer paper, woodblock for carving, custom mini registration board, newsprint for test prints, high quality printmaking paper for final prints 

Materials for student use during the workshop: 
Carving tools, barens, brayers, ink mixers, glass printing plates and a variety of colors of printmaking ink

The Cannon Beach Commercial Club, incorporated on February 19, 1945, formed the Cannon Beach Chamber on October 3, 1968. The Chamber serves local businesses and visitors year-round.
