Step into the eerie side of Port Townsend on our newest walking tour, Strange Shadows. From ghostly encounters, unexplained disappearances, and historical oddities, to UFO sightings and strange tales from the sea, this mysterious meander through downtown Port Townsend delves into some of our most unsettling stories and culminates in a special interpretive tour of the historic jail spaces inside the 1892 City Hall building.
This tour is a crowd favorite, offering the perfect blend of historical research and unsolved mysteries.

Weather Plan:
As we all know, October weather can be unpredictable! Here’s our plan to make sure the experience is enjoyable rain or shine:
A. If it’s dry, or lightly to moderately raining, we’ll head out on the walking tour as planned.
B. If heavier rain or high winds (25+ mph) roll in, we’ll move indoors for a cozy slide show adaptation of the tour at the Museum. Afterwards, we will do the jail tour as planned.
Please note that tickets are non-refundable due to weather, but rest assured—you’ll get the same eerie stories either way!
Proceeds from walking tours help support JCHS collections care, research, exhibits, and public programs.
