Summer Songwriter Series: Second Round

Friday, July 31 | 8PM

The Bunker Performance Lounge & Cafe | 104 Wellington St, Stratford

Pay What You Can (Recommended $15)

The Summer Songwriter Series returns for its second round on Friday, July 31st. Three songwriters take the stage together, trading songs back and forth in an evening of original music spanning folk, blues, country, rock, and more. Join us at 8PM for an intimate night of storytelling and live performance.

Barry James Payne (String Bone)

Canadiana/Americana best describes the music of singer-songwriter Barry James Payne. Well worn by the rumble of the road, Payne writes songs that bring his true-to-life narratives close to the ear with tender arrangements and gruff sincerity. Mixing folk, blues, country, rock, and other contemporary and traditional elements, his sound is both fluid and solid. Raised in London, ON, Payne was roaming the streets at 14 and catching legendary shows by the likes of Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, James Cotton, and Long John Baldry before he reached the age of majority.

Stephen Ingram

Stephen Ingram is a London-based, Hamilton-born singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He draws on his love of great Canadian artists, a decade-long career in live theatre, and his training as a classical pianist and music theorist to create story-driven, intricate folk-rock music unmistakably set in Ontario. His debut album "Fridge Magnet Symphony" (2023) ranged from high-energy pop-rock to orchestral folk to R&B to country rock, earning praise from the Hamilton Spectator and airplay on CBC Radio. His upcoming second album "Silly Things," due in September 2026 and supported by the Ontario Arts Council and the London Arts Council, strips back the production and leans into lyrical folk and confessional folk rock, exploring the coming of age from one's 20s to 30s through the lens of his recent ADHD diagnosis, set against the distinct backdrop of Ontario, Canada.

Brayden Medeiros

Brayden Medeiros is a 22-year-old songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and artist from North Perth, Ontario. Drawing influence from genres such as Indie Folk, Alternative Country, Americana, Soft Psych, Garage Rock, and Blues, his debut album "Bluebird" was released on July 3rd. The 10 tracks on the album were mainly written by Brayden, aside from "Easy Sit Slowly," which was written by friend Planes Jesus, who also co-wrote "Rushing Tides" and assisted with "Morning Light". The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at home, and every instrument on the album was played by Brayden, with instrumentation including acoustic, electric, nylon, 12-string, bass, steel guitar, harmonica, Hammond organ, Rhodes piano, upright piano, tambourine, shakers, claves, and drums.

This is a pay-what-you-can event with a recommended admission of $15. All are welcome.
