Description
Join us on April 18 for Super Saturday: Tapestries, a hands-on artmaking experience inspired by Henry Easterwood and other artists from the Memphis College of Art (MCA) legacy featured in the museum’s Permanent Collection. Young artists will explore color, texture, and shape as they create their own felt “tapestries” using scissors, glue, and colorful felt.
Layer by layer, kids will cut and assemble abstract forms or storytelling scenes, mimicking the rich visual language of textile art. This approachable project offers a tactile and creative way to engage with modern art and celebrate Memphis’s artistic heritage.
Ideal for ages 5–12. All materials provided.
Registration is required. Spaces are limited—register early to join the fun!
Major annual support for Museum Education is provided by the Windgate Foundation, City of Memphis, First Horizon Foundation, Tennessee Arts Commission, National Endowment for the Arts, ARTSmemphis, and the Urban Child Institute.
