This is a four-session event; your registration gains you entry to all four sessions.
Storytellers Jim Brulé and David Heathfield welcome you on a storytelling exploration of compassion. We’ll tell three parallel stories from diverse oral traditions and invite you to look deeply into your responses. You will be encouraged to share your insights with others on this learning journey, and may choose to tell a personal story that springs to mind.
The way we explore stories through creative, collaborative, and personal response activities will allow you to adapt and apply these methods in teaching contexts where older children, teenagers, and adults can learn about compassion and humanity through storytelling.
Sessions will be held at the same time on both days: 28 and 29 January, 2023:
- 15:00-17:00 GMT (10am-12pm Eastern)
- 18:30-20:30 GMT (1:30-3:30pm Eastern)
Jim Brulé is a storyteller, teacher, coach, and organizational consultant whose experience spans several decades. As a maggid, he creates opportunities for spiritual growth and transformation through encounters with stories, whether in performances, classes, or individual guidance. He has delivered programs to storytelling organizations around the world, and classes in digital storytelling at the university level. His training programs in leadership, collaboration, and issues of implicit bias have been well-received by commercial, non-profit, and religious institutions. https://transformationalstorytelling.org/
David Heathfield is a storyteller, storytelling teacher trainer and storytelling coach who tells tales and runs workshops around the world both in person and online. He writes widely about student creativity in language learning and is the author of the teacher resource and development books Storytelling With Our Students: Techniques for telling tales from around the world and Spontaneous Speaking: Drama Activities for Confidence and Fluency (both DELTA Publishing).
