Description
This December, the Vancouver Maritime Museum is thrilled to partner with Terror Camp for an in-person Polar Party—an afternoon celebrating Arctic exploration, history, and community.
Since 2021, Terror Camp has been an annual gathering of hundreds of polar exploration enthusiasts—an event that celebrates the history and mystery of Arctic and Antarctic expeditions. Born from a shared love of AMC’s The Terror and the story of the Franklin Expedition, Terror Camp welcomes academics, actors, scientists, and fans alike for an engaging exchange of research, creativity, and passion for polar history.
Join Ashley, the VMM’s Curator of Collections, for a special presentation on the Museum’s Arctic collection, highlighting fragmented artifacts left behind by the Franklin Expedition collected by the crew of the R.C.M.P. St Roch. Discover the depth and uniqueness of the VMM’s Arctic collection and how you can access it for your research!
Following the talk, attendees can take part in a hands-on photo collage button-making craft, inspired by The Terror TV series and polar exploration. All materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring printouts of their favourite characters, scenes, or quotes for a personal touch.
