HINDENBURG SYSTEMS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CMTO AND AUDIOCRAFT FESTIVAL

You’ve got a great story to tell. You can currently record and edit a podcast or audio story, but would like to improve the quality of your audio and speed up your process. You would also like to expand your universe by interviewing guests, without leaving the house!

High audio quality is key to keeping listeners engaged.

In radio days gone by, a storyteller would work with a professional audio engineer and sound recordist, who would be responsible for the audio quality. Today, at a minimum you have to understand the technology and engineering as well as craft and tell your story. In most cases, you have to do it all yourself.

This hands-on workshop is aimed at storytellers who have mastered the basics of audio production who would like to take their podcast to the next level. Experts Anita Michalski from Hindenburg and Giordana Caputo and Heli Newton from the CMTO will take the time to guide you through all the steps in the podcast production process. Using Hindenburg Journalist PRO, you will do practical training exercises to give you advanced skills to record, edit and publish your story as a podcast or radio show.

Format:

The workshop will be online via Zoom, using Breakout rooms.

Instructions will be provided to all participants in a main Zoom forum, while hands-on exercises will be done in 3 smaller breakout rooms with a dedicated instructor.

Equipment:

Windows or Mac computer, stable internet connection, preferably a headset or headphones and mic.

When you sign up, you will be provided with an access link and password, a 3-month trial of Hindenburg Journalist PRO with a discount code and instructions on how to prepare for the workshop.

We will provide audio material and scripts for the exercises, and participants will end up with a final audio product to demonstrate their results.

Ticket types:

Active Participants will be able to ask questions and get one-to-one help in both the common forum and the breakout rooms (SOLD OUT)

Audience Participants will be able to watch the instruction and will also be added to the breakout rooms to follow the exercises. They will also have access to the material needed to perform the exercises.  (ON SALE NOW)

Learning Outcomes:

The aim of the workshop is to give you a good understanding of the basic skills you need to master in order to record, edit and export a high-quality audio story. In addition, we will also show you how to upload or publish a finished audio piece.

While the workshop will give you an overview of the complete production process, it will not focus on crafting your content, only on the technical audio engineering.

Using real audio and scripts provided by us, you'll learn the building blocks of audio editing including setting up a session, making your voice sound great, basic editing techniques and some special tips and tricks for great sound.

The exercises will include:

  • making a basic recording with a mic or other input
  • importing audio material
  • setting levels
  • editing audio
  • export and publish your final product

This session is part of the 2020 Audiocraft Podcast Festival.
