Description

NATYA ANUBHAVA presents:
AgraaNi - Women vanguards through the ages

We present stories of three remarkable women: Akka Mahadevi from 12th century,  Onake Obavva from the 18th century and Mukhtar Mai from the 21st century.

Akka Mahadevi stood up for her convictions against a King. Obava defended her fort against invaders single handedly and Mukhtar Mai stood up to her rapists, started a school and shelter for battered women.  Each woman fought oppression and emerged victorious.

Though from different times and societies,  each of the women exhibit the same traits: remarkable inner strength, intelligence, fierce courage, and resilience. These women inspire and show us that a transformation of the self ripples out into society.
