Description
National CLA Membership: $10 per member, per membership year
Beginning in August 2026, Civic Leaders of America operates under a national membership system established by the CLA Board of Directors. Membership dues help support CLA’s programming, conventions, organizational infrastructure, and continued growth while providing members with a recognized role in the organization.
You MUST fill out this form after paying your dues to be recorded as a member.
What Your Membership Includes
Registered CLA members receive:
Voting eligibility in CLA state and regional elections, subject to applicable state requirements
Eligibility to run for state and regional office
$5 off each CLA convention attended
Access to the official CLA member directory and members-only digital platform
Access to national financial updates and reporting
Eligibility to vote on select ballot initiatives and constitutional amendments
Because convention prices include a $5 membership discount for registered members, active members who attend multiple state conventions can recoup the cost of their $10 dues through convention discounts.
Who Needs to Register?
Students may participate in CLA chapter activities and attend conventions without paying dues, but only registered members receive official membership benefits and rights.
Membership is $10 per person, and students may register individually. Chapters may also pay collectively on behalf of their members through a roster submitted by the Chapter President.
Financial Assistance
CLA is committed to ensuring that membership dues do not prevent students from participating. Need-based membership scholarships are available for students who cannot afford the $10 fee.
Scholarship applicants will submit a brief explanation of their financial need and what they gain from CLA membership. Scholarship applications are confidential and do not affect a member's rights, benefits, or standing within CLA.
