Description

Historic Rock Ford's Fashion Lecture Series welcomes Michele Quigley as she presents “The 1790s Series: A Visual Representation of a Remarkable Period in History.” The 1790s Series is a photographic fine art series that celebrates and showcases the elegance and diversity of women's dress in the 1790s. Inspired by the works of artists like Vigée Le Brun and others, the 1790s Series is a tribute to the artistic legacy of the late 18th century.

This presentation will take place in the Langmuir Education Room on the first floor of the Rock Ford Barn. Admission is for the lecture only and does not include the Snyder Gallery or Hand Mansion. This presentation will be approximately one hour in length.

About the Presenter: Michele Quigley is an international award winning portrait & fine art photographer. An historical costumer and sewist. A speaker and educator. She is a Lancaster County native and lives in Lancaster with her husband and children.

Historic Rock Ford is comprised of the circa 1794 General Edward Hand Mansion and the John J. Snyder, Jr. Gallery of Early Lancaster County Decorative Arts. Our historic site is situated on 33 acres of gardens, woods and grounds surrounded by Lancaster County Central Park located in the southeast corner of Lancaster City.  This remarkable estate offers visitors the opportunity to encounter the outstanding original late-Georgian style architecture of the Hand Mansion, to experience its rooms furnished in exquisite period style while, in the Snyder Gallery, to explore a nationally recognized collection of Lancaster County decorative arts dating from circa 1760 to 1820 including furniture, portraiture, long rifles, tall case clocks, silver, and much more.
