Description
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious and heartfelt musical comedy that follows six quirky middle schoolers competing for spelling glory. Presided over by former champion Rona Lisa Peretti and an eccentric panel of adults, the bee quickly becomes anything but ordinary. As the contestants tackle impossibly difficult words, their inner lives spill out in unexpected ways. From overachiever Marcy to anxious newcomer Olive, from awkward Boy Scout Chip to allergy-ridden Barfée and politically precocious Schwarzy, each speller brings their own chaos and charm to the stage. At its heart, Spelling Bee is a funny and tender coming-of-age story about identity, resilience, and the need to be seen, heard, and valued. Rated PG-13
