Description
Have you ever wondered what it might have been like to be in the Bijou Theatre on Christmas Eve 1945, George Bailey's crucial night - or perhaps Radio City Music Hall the evening that Vito Corleone was shot? The Everett is pleased to present a compilation of motion pictures, featured just as they would have been shown in Bedford Falls, New York the evening of December 24th,1945 – perhaps New York City, or even our very own Middletown.
RKO Pathé News was a producer of newsreels and documentaries which provided the American public with vital news updates from home and abroad, including reports from the war fronts overseas during the second World War. Tonight’s newsreel was played to audiences in November and December of 1945. Runtime: 4 minutes
Classic Animated Short: Bring back the memories with a 1945 American animated short film featuring one of our fuzzy favorites. This delightful cartoon was released to theaters in December 1945 with a runtime of 5 minutes
The Bells of St. Mary's starring Bing Crosby and Ingrid Bergman in a heartwarming American musical drama. Produced and directed by Leo McCarey, the film follows 1944’s Going My Way, which Crosby won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Father O’Malley. Reprising his role as unconventional Catholic priest, the easy-going Crosby finds himself at difficult odds with the firm Sister Benedict (Bergman), as they strive to put their differences aside in order to save the financially strapped St. Mary’s parochial school.
Nominated for ten Academy Awards, the film received the Oscar for Best Sound Recording, the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Bergman) and, when adjusted for inflation, is considered the 57th highest-grossing film of all time.
