The Bend SESSIONS: Free Lecture Series
August 10 - Bill Volkert
Cuba: Pearl of the Caribbean
Bill Volkert spent 27 years as the naturalist and wildlife educator for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources at Horicon Marsh, where he led more than 3,700 education programs for over 220,000 visitors, including scientists from more than 40 countries. Now retired from the DNR, Volkert continues to travel the world in search of birds and wild places with his wife, Connie — journeys that have taken them across six continents and produced sightings of nearly half of the world’s 10,000 bird species. He lives near the Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest and remains one of Wisconsin’s most sought-after nature speakers. In this program, Volkert shares stories and photography from his travels through Cuba, exploring its distinctive landscapes, wildlife and culture.
The Bend Sessions Community Lecture Series runs from August 10th through November 17th and is a FREE event open to the public, however registration is requested.
