Description
Adriel Denae grew up in a commune in an old hotel in Chicago. Her exposure to folk, blues, jazz, gospel, and diverse surroundings instilled a sense of timelessness and mystery. Music was her first language and primary way of connecting with herself and others.
In the early aughts, love brought her to Champaign, IL, where she and Noah Harris, a Champaign native, began performing with their band Elanors while enrolled in Parkland College. Eventually, Adriel moved to Nashville and collaborated with Cory Chisel and The Wandering Sons for over a decade, performing around the world, including appearances on David Letterman and Conan O’Brien and opening for Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Rosanne Cash, Norah Jones + others. In 2018, she released a solo record produced by Norah Jones.
Between 2015 and 2020, Adriel relocated to Wisconsin and helped to develop an arts collective in a former Franciscan monastery that offered creatives a place to stay and work without charge. Adriel continues to explore music and its potential for connection while raising her young son and admiring the natural world. She is working on another collection of recordings and will perform at Fire Doll Studio with her father, Daniel “Stu” Heiss, a skilled and sensitive jazz guitarist. She is thrilled to return to Champaign for the first time in a decade and reconnect with some of her musical roots.
Her performances typically mix original songs, standards from the Great American Songbook, and interpretations of tunes by Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, The Grateful Dead, Molly Drake + others.
What to expect: A beautiful evening of complete emersion in sound and candlelight. This series aims to bring you music and stories in a truly unique and intimate setting. These concerts will be presented in a listening room format, so there is no talking and phones must be silenced during the performance. There will be an intermission to stretch your legs, check your phone, and enjoy beverages from the Dollhouse bar.
DOORS 7pm / SHOW 8pm - PLEASE arrive before 8pm

Shows are all ages. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
The Dollhouse bar serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Please be prepared to show your ID. Note: All cocktails on The Dollhouse menu are available with BARE Zero Proof Spirits.
