Curtain Call's Pre Professional Company Presents: The Drowsy Chaperone
Pre Professional Company is a musical theatre intensive with ONLY 8 weeks of rehearsals and a full weekend of shows. Our goal is to give our performers a genuine professional theatre experience in a fast pace and supportive environment. The programs focus is giving actors the opportunity to focus on their performance skills in an encouraging environment that also allows them to grow and be challenged as a performer while having a great time with their peers. We have an experienced and professional production team and crew that handles all other aspect of the show to give students a genuine professional experience.
With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.
Hailed by New York Magazine as "The Perfect Broadway Musical," The Drowsy Chaperone is a masterful meta-musical, poking fun at all the tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre.
The Drowsy Chaperone is rated PG. The shows run time is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes with an intermission. Snacks will be sold before the show and during intermission. Seating is general admission and seats are first come first serve; doors open 20 minutes prior to the show, there will be no refunds issued.
