Screening and Discussion Workshop
Far from being a series of screenings or an academic lecture series, this interactive workshop will immerse you in an eclectic mix of material from the past and present, mostly as projected 16mm film!
Join Greg Pierce (long-time Director of Film and Video at The Andy Warhol Museum and custodian of a massive, eclectic film collection known as The Orgone Archive) for four in-person screening / discussion sessions, offering a curated survey of the world of personal and experimental filmmaking.
Participants will dissect the motivation, approaches, ideas and attention to detail that visual artists working far outside of the mainstream have committed to celluloid while viewing and pondering films by Arnold, Duchamp, Henson, Bunuel, Tscherkassky and many others.
These films have been called avant-garde, underground, experimental among other terms, but the thing they have in common is that they offer unique ways of seeing the world. We hope the films and accompanying discussion will excite, enlighten, aggravate, confuse and inspire all attending makers and onlookers. You don’t want to miss this!
