THE GATHERING we continue to highlight local black street dance culture and music. From commencement to closure, there will be a clear demonstration of dance genres indigenous to the Black diaspora. Local street dance communities including Black/Latino salsa and Kizomba communities have pledged their participation in an effort to raise awareness about the cultural significance of their respective dance forms. Throughout the event, there will be opportunities to witness dance battles that will test the fortitude of each participant based on their knowledge, practice, and study. Ultimately, we desire to expose and align the work of the street dance community with that of the broader dance community as a point of order #columbus #iamdance .--
