Description
Southern Appalachian Dance Collective presents The Girl and the Raven
On a day when everything feels lost, a young girl meets a raven who changes the way she sees the world. Through their unlikely friendship, she learns that even in life’s darkest moments, hope can take flight. The Girl and the Raven is a heartfelt story about the power of kindness, forgiveness, and love—and how choosing to serve others can turn sorrow into joy.
This enchanting story comes to life in a world premiere ballet by Southern Appalachian Dance Collective, based on The Girl and the Raven, an Appalachian fairytale by Abingdon native Hugh Belcher. Through original choreography, an original score by Isaac Ratliff (Florencia and the Feeling, Charlie Maples), and heartfelt performances by local dancers, the production transforms The Girl and the Raven into a powerful celebration of friendship, resilience, and the light that kindness can bring to even the darkest skies.
