What our guests are saying:

"Truly authentic experience. It was such fun to be hosted in this wonderful house and have an up close experience with a live band. Fabulous musicians and I am sure you will be surprised at several turns. René is a very kind guy and will welcome you as if you were a houseguest. If you see a date for this event and your thinking about it; go for it. It may ended up being one of your Top5 during your trip."

“Great music by René Calvo, a fellow Harlemite” “We love to bring you music from our neighborhood in Harlem and this is a longtime FMU fan and amazing artist and playwright who also has created a very special place called The Harlem Flophouse where you can stay overnight but also hear beautiful live music in the parlor room and this is his awesome song Great Big Man… —Carol Gimbel  WFMU

This was the first time to a Blues Rock Jam session. The band was amazing! The atmosphere was very intimate, we had the feeling the performance was just for us. This was a great experience

This "Live Rock @ The Harlem Flophouse" was one of the most entertaining music events I have ever attended! This band flows with such crispness you accomplish after numerous years of practice.  The atmosphere was cozy. I was thoroughly impressed with this Brownstone. The interior has been restored to its original state (not stripped and modernized, such a crime) . The acoustics of the parlor was ideal for this band. This event is like an NYC hidden treasure. Please don't let that be! I wish more people to experience the greatness of this event. I met an awesome Australian family at this event and they were blown away........If you are local, do yourself a favor, bring a couple friends....You won't be disappointed!

Even after a month, I still could remember how amazing the show it was. Soaring drums, gorgeous fireworks dazzling in my mind, distant calls, awakening my body, from the tips of my hair to the ends of my toes, none of which speaks of the thrill of awakening.  Rene's passion for musical storytelling will bring this iconic love story to life in ways I have never experienced. Moreover, there was an excitement in his voice that everyone who had cared for, which I fell in love with. Renes voice has an enticing charisma that captures the listeners attention and compels them to follow the musicality of his speech. In this sense, Rene recalls the Sirens of Greek myth, who use their enchanting voices to lure sailors into shipwrecks. Like the Sirens, René's voice issues a vague but alluring promise of gay, exciting things to come.  Michael and sterling are two of the most exciting theatre artists. Their performance is full of powerful impact and hormones, so that I have been enthralled and long-awaited.  "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." — The Great Gatsby  If I got a chance, I will come back for Rene again.
