About the Show
The Importance of Being Earnest, set in 1895, is a play celebrated for its comedic wit and repartee with likeable characters and a heart-warming story line that openly satirises late Victorian manners.
Meet Mr. Algernon Moncrieff and Mr. John Worthing, two young men who adopt the first name Ernest for seeking adventure and instead each fall in love with a young woman: Miss Cardew and Miss Fairfax, respectively. Both ladies, prior to their meeting have decided in their heart of hearts that they can only love a man named Ernest.
Toss in some cheeky servants, the formidable Lady Bracknell, the buttoned-up governess, Miss Prism and the scholarly Canon Chasuble oh and a handbag of unknown origin and you’ll get quite a story!
