Description

As If Theatre Company is back and ready to misbehave! To celebrate our 6th annual short play festival, we are shaking things up with a brand-new, wickedly fun twist: The Kenmore Quickies – The 8 Deadly Sins. Eight playwrights, eight directors, and 15 actors have teamed up to bring delicious mischief to the stage for 4 performances, August 7–9, 2026.

How did we get here? It all started at a roaring Quick-Off Party in June, where our local playwrights learned their fate.  Through random games of chance, they were assigned their cast and director, given a strict (but fun) list of prop constraints, and handed their ultimate inspiration: one of the infamous 7 deadly sins, with a brand new 8th sin thrown in for good measure.

Our writers are then sequestered for four weeks to let their dark, comedic, or dramatic imaginations run wild. Once the scripts are turned in, they are handed off to the directors and actors for a whirlwind two weeks of rehearsals.

Each evening, audience members will vote for the Audience Favorite Award, to be presented after Sunday’s performance, while a panel of 3 judges will determine the Critics’ Choice Award.

Funny, serious, a bit strange, and downright weird are all adjectives that can be used to describe this event.  Plus one heckuva good time!

Playing at the historic Kenmore Community Club located in the heart of Brewery Row, which backs up to the Burke-Gilman Trail.

As If Theatre Company

In the long-standing debate, “Does art imitate life or does life imitate art?” As If Theatre Company consciously chooses the latter. We want our art to instill within you hope and laughter, conflict and resolution, empathy and awareness, and a deeper understanding of yourself and others.

We are committed to bringing engaging, challenging, and entertaining theater to the community just north of Seattle. Our company believes that theater is community and together we can tell stories that inspire thought, engage conversations, and join all of us together to tell a bigger story. Passionate and dedicated, As If Theater Company’s ultimate goal is to change our small piece of the world for the better.

Performing at the historic Kenmore Community Club, As If Theatre Company was started by local theater artists, Cindy Giese French, Amy Gentry, and Molly Hall, who wanted to create an artistic home in the Northend. As a burgeoning city without a theater group, Kenmore was the ideal location to call home.

So come along. Play with us.
