Brüka Theatre’s 30th Season: Illuminate opens with THE MOORS, Jen Silverman’s deliciously dark comedy about love, desperation, and visibility. This gothic, edgy, absurd, and ruthlessly profound production is directed by gifted theatre artist Libby Bakke, who recently directed The Revolutionists at GLM. The Moors is the story of two sisters, both desperately unhappy, who live with a maid and their family dog in an isolated family home in the desolate wilderness of the English moors. When a governess is summoned to their secluded mansion teeming with secrets, she (and we) find that nothing is as it seems. The Moors is a new take on Gothic romance, where the rules of both the genre and the world defy tradition and expectation.
