Overview

This series explores the emergence of Gnosticism in the contemporary charismatic world. Gnosticism was a historical movement that arose in the first and second centuries to draw people away from the Apostolic tradition. This seductive movement emphasised a higher knowledge that transcended the traditional teachings of Christ and the Apostles. The same impulse that motivated the early gnostics has resurfaced in the current charismatic movement, enticing Christians to a higher revelation and a shift of focus toward extra-biblical mystical encounters.

Course Structure

There will be two 45-minute sessions per Tuesday night presented on ZOOM over three consecutive Tuesdays. There will be a Q and A discussion at the end of each session.

Recordings will be made available the following day post LIVE ZOOM Session. These recordings will only be available for 14 days. After this they will not be available.

Session Two: Paul Versus the Gnostics

April 9th

Session Three: Incipient Gnosticism in Corinth

Session Four: John Versus the Gnostics

April 16th

Session Five: Identifying Contemporary Gnosticism in the Charismatic Movement

Session Six: Responding to Gnosticism and Ministering to the New Gnostics
