Grip & Electric Essentials Workshop 

Peter and Tom present an overview of essential skills to prepare newcomers for the challenges associated with lighting, gripping, and rigging for film and television productions.

Industry Veterans, Peter LaRocque and Tom Mauss – both members of IATSE 295 lead this introduction to Grip and Electric Department.

Transportation will be provided for participants coming from Saskatoon.

Peter La Rocque 

Peter La Rocque has been a respected leader in the Saskatchewan film and television industry for over 30 years. He worked as the gaffer (chief lighting technician) on over 60 feature films/TV series and hundreds of commercials.

Peter's credits include acclaimed series like Corner Gas and Little Mosque on the Prairie, and fan favourites like Wolfcop and Just Friends.

Peter has helped light Hollywood legends—Loretta Young, John Vernon, Ann Margaret— and film stars including Nick Cage, Andy Garcia, Drew Barrymore, Sean Penn, Ryan Reynolds and more.

 

 

Tom Mauss

Tom Mauss has been Key Grip for 70+ feature films/TV series and 600+ TV ads. He began his career as a stage manager in Saskatoon and went on to work in theatres in Vancouver, Germany and Switzerland. 

Tom settled in Switzerland where—for 28 years— he was head of Grip & Lighting Rentals for a Swiss film equipment company before returning to Saskatchewan in 2018, where he continues to Key Grip for features, TV series and commercials.
