Description

Regarded as one of the most evocative voices of his generation, Eugene Astapov's music has captivated audiences across the globe – from Ottawa's National Arts Centre to the Grafenegg Festival and Lincoln Center. Astapov is the winner of the Grand Prize in the 2019 SOCAN Foundation Composer Awards and a recipient of the National Sawdust/Juilliard School Blueprint Bridge Fellowship.

Making her nanoSTAGE debut, pianist Jani Parsons has been praised for her “combination of tenderness and vivacious energy” (San Francisco Chronical) and “sheer virtuosity” (LA Splash). From Waco, Texas, she is currently based in Calgary and has established herself as a musician of warmth, brilliance, versatility, and vivid expression. An active soloist and chamber musician, she is a founding member and executive director of Latitude 49, a mixed chamber ensemble recently in residence at Princeton University and the pianist of the Aurora Trio with violinist Timothy Steeves and cellist Max Geissler.

Adam Sherkin also performs on this programme, cent
ered upon the music Astapov and other Ukrainian-Canadians, "IN PORTRAIT," a new sub-series of programmes this season from Piano Lunaire. ❄️ 🌕
