Description
Doors and Union Bar from 7pm - Show at 7:30pm $12 entry
Matt Radford - Multi instrumentalist , songwriter and vocalist. His work through the 1990's saw him tour the country with award winning folk / groove band TREEHOUSE.
The band often appeared as a 12 piece ensemble and brought joy to inner Melb/Sydney and Festivals.
They famously played at their own Benefit held due to the band's sharehouse burning down - TISM appeared secretly to support them as 'The Frank Vitrovic Jazz Ensemble' and proceeded to rip the fake Punter's Club Roof apart.
Mattyrad is a grumpy mid century Melbourne bloke who sings mostly about love, and the lack thereof. He was in a band called Treehouse for a time, then became Byron hippy playing with Marimba bands, Zimbabwean ceremony men and Belly dance troupes. A former festival sl*t, these days he spends most of his time doing acupuncture, fixing sh*t around the house and posting raw and awkward Sunday Night Poetry on Facebook. This is his debut gig at the Trades hall. There will be folk songs There will be catchy acoustic pop songs There may even be a sing-along if you’re up for it!
Here's Matt on lead vocal and guitar with TREEHOUSE.
EARL LEONARD:
Earl Leonard was a full time musician, until he was taken, years ago, by the lure of the sea. Alas, his quest to be pirate king ultimately failed. The sordid details of his rise and fall are, of course, unspeakable. But, fortunately for us, the etiquette on singing such tails is much looser. As are such rules on telling the truth. Anyway he sings and plays kinda bluesy songs in a kind of gravelly way and is really, honestly, glad to be back. Earl played thru the 90's an onward with seminal Ballarat rockers THE RYE CATCHERS
as lead singer and was a part of the furniture at Ballarat's fabulous BRIDGE MALL INN.
Here's Earl solo for Live on Lydiard in 2012
