CALLING ALL PERFORMING ARTISTS!!
 
We invite you to come attend in the open casting call for the Dance Institute of Washington’s (DIW) most popular and longest-running cultural arts production (since 1995), The Spirit of Kwanzaa! 
 
The Spirit of Kwanzaa is a cultural arts celebration that focuses on the agricultural ceremonies of Africa. DIW has adapted the seven principles of Kwanzaa to convey the struggles and creativity of the Black diaspora. The production highlights the holiday’s principles with dance, song, live drumming, and spoken word. We are thrilled to offer this unique opportunity to ALL performing artists across the DMV community and beyond! 
 
As DIW proudly celebrates the 30th anniversary of The Spirit of Kwanzaa, we honor a legacy rooted in cultural excellence, artistic development, and powerful storytelling. This year, we celebrate not only the milestones but the mission: to carry forth a legacy where young artists are nurtured, stories are shared with intention, and the power of Black artistry is celebrated in all its forms. We are here—rooted in culture, thriving in legacy, and committed to shaping the future through the enduring spirit of Kwanzaa.
