The Virginia Classic: A Celebration of the Commonwealth's Wine, Food, and Agriculture
Join us at Strasburg Square in Strasburg, VA (216 E King St, Strasburg, VA 22657) on April 5, 2025, from 3 to 7 PM for The Virginia Classic, a premier event showcasing the best of the Northern Shenandoah's wine, food, and farms.
A grand tasting of 16 selected wines from regional wineries, paired with small bites prepared by Executive Chef Christopher Carge. Guests will enjoy abundant, wine-focused tastings, food from local farms, engaging conversations with local winemakers and farmers, and a "Taste Like a Somm" presentation by Washington, D.C.'s first Master of Wine, Jay Youmans - all in support of Virginia agriculture.
Our Hosts:
- Master of Ceremonies, Philip Mudd, is both a Virginia wine enthusiast and an international media personality, having been featured on CNN, Fox, BBC, NPR, and MSNBC. He guides the evening's entertaining discussions of regional wines and foods with winemakers and special guests.
- Master of Wine, Jay Youmans, was Washington, D.C.'s first Master of Wine (MW). Jay leads our "Taste Like a Somm" seminar - an insight into professional wine tasting.
- Executive Chef Christopher Carge is a multi-award winning chef, and has been featured on the Food Network and the James Beard House in New York City. He combines his culinary skill with regional farm products to create an exciting menu of small bite pairings.
- Agricultural Liaison Allyson Ponn, leads education and outreach programming on behalf of Virginia’s Soil and Water Conservation District and leads both Strasburg’s farmers market and community garden. She provides insights into local farms and food production.

- VIP Tasting Pass: early entry at 2 PM with intimate winemaker meet-and-greets, special wine tastings, a VIP grazing board, plus the amenities of the Classic Tasting Pass.
- Classic Tasting Pass: entry at 3 PM, a grand tasting of 16 wines, small bites food pairings, "Taste like a Somm" seminar, winemaker and farmer discussions, and live musical entertainment.
