River & Rail Theatre Company and Pellissippi State Community College present THE WOLVES by Sarah DeLappe.
Squats, jumping jacks, quads, hamstrings, periods, Trigonometry, gossip, heartbreak, loss…Sarah DeLappe pays attention, she takes teenage girls seriously, “I wanted to see a portrait of teenage girls as human beings – as complicated, nuanced, very idiosyncratic people who weren’t just girlfriends, or sex objects or manic pixie dream girls but who were athletes and daughters and students and scholars and people who were actively trying to change the world around them.” This sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking, delightfully honest play takes an insider's look at an American high school girls soccer team and finds a full human microcosm there.
***Production contains strong language and mild adult themes.
The Wolves premiered in a production by The Playwright's Realm at The Duke on 42nd Street Theater in New York City in August 2016 under the direction of Lila Neugebauer.
