Tie Dye with Sequoia

Description

Learn to tie and then dye a garment or fabric for your sewing projects!

• Appropriate dyes  and all equipment for the dye and cure processes will be provided.
• Please bring your own white cotton t-shirt to dye.
  • Your t-shirt should be as close to  100% cotton in fiber content as possible. Anything of at least 75% cotton will work, but the colors will not come out as brightly.
  • Please be sure to prewash your t-shirt  in warm to hot water with NO fabric softener and preferably detergent containing no dyes or fragrances, as these chemicals can interfere with the dye bonding with the material.
    • You can use a small drop of dish detergent in the hot wash, if you don't want to buy free and clear laundry detergent.

Class Pricing

•  Class fee is $20, to you bring your own item, pre-washed and ready to go.

 

After class

• When the process of tying and dyeing are finished, you will put your piece in a ziploc bag and take it home to cure for 24-48 hours.
• After the curing process is finished, you'll begin the washout process at home, for which you will receive instructions, both written and verbal, during the class. If you have any questions before class begins, please reach out to Sequoia @ sequoiamakes@gmail.com.

Accessibility notes

• Dyeing can be messy. Please wear clothing that you do not mind getting messy.
• A portion of this class may be outside, please wear any appropriate sun protection.
• This class DOES NOT require previous dyeing experience.
