A week-long camp for 7-12 year olds set in the Historic Village in Brownington, VT.
Monday-Thursday 9am - 3pm & Friday Family Day 9am - 12pm
Campers will take a look at how our forefathers expended and harnessed energy and how and why technologies changed during the time when the Industrial Revolution was beginning to take hold in northern Vermont, when Alexander Twilight resided in the Village (1829-1857).
Through hands-on exploration and historic theater related to renewable energy use through time and exploration of modern day alternatives necessary for a changing world, campers will gain an understanding of how integrated as opposed to separate we are from the natural world.
Activities include camp favorites such as animal husbandry, outdoor cooking, theater, music, blacksmithing. With theme explorations in solar cooking, wool as an insulator, water wheel experiments and hands-on lessons with the Vermont Energy Education Program & a Thursday field trip to Crystal Lake Falls Historic Association mill site - The Brick Kingdom.
