Ever wondered how different clay bodies handle? Come experiment with 5 awesome mid-range clays from New Mexico Clay in this hands-on clay play session! Rachel from New Mexico Clay will be here to answer all your clay questions and help you pick the best projects for each type of clay.
How It Works:
⚡ Sign up for a one-hour time slot on Saturday, February 8, between 1 PM & 4 PM
🎨 Try out up to 5 different clays and see how they feel on the wheel or handbuilding
🗣 Get expert tips from Rachel about the best projects for each clay
🔥 Leave your pieces with us, we’ll bisque fire, dip them in clear glaze, and glaze fire them for you
Clays We’ll Be Trying:
- Ermine with Speckles – A white stoneware with fun, black speckles
- Ironstone Black – A deep, groggy, dramatic black clay that makes glazes pop
- Chocolate – Rich, dark, and smooth, like the pottery version of a brownie
- Smooth Red – A classic red clay that’s versatile and fun to work with
- Red Sculpture – A groggy, dark terra cotta color, perfect for sculpting
Cost:
$20 per person - Includes up to 3 pounds of clay (mix and match however you like!). Sorry, no discounts for using less clay!
Want to leave with a bag? Limited amounts will be available for sale!
Firing is included - we’ll bisque fire, dip in clear glaze, and glaze fire your pieces. Finished pieces will be ready for pickup in about 3 weeks.

Who Can Join?
This is not a beginner class, you should already know the basics of wheel throwing or handbuilding. No formal instruction, just a fun chance to test out different clays!
