This winter, The Bighorn is embracing the theme of Tuscany and we hope you will join us on the journey that will be both delicious and educational.
- On Valentine's Day, we are taking over Washoe Theatre for one evening where our guests will be able to watch "Made in Italy" while sipping on Tuscan-made beverages, and enjoying food by The Hangout Cafe. TICKETS & DETAILS HERE.
- On the evening of Wednesday March 6 we are hosting a ticketed wine class where guests will be expertly guided through an educational wine tasting with Sommelier Vanessa as they learn about, taste and explore the distinct characteristics of Tuscan wines,. DETAILS BELOW.
- On Saturday, March 9 we will host a free wine tasting event featuring the wines of Tuscany. This event is not ticketed and guests are welcome to come and go as they please while they enjoy free samples. DETAILS HERE.
Those who have a desire to not only taste, but learn about the wines of Tuscany, are strongly encouraged to attend all of the above, but specifically the wine class. After hosting nearly 50 students in The Bighorn's Wine 101 classes, we've decided we will offer more in-depth classes moving forward that are region specific. And we are thrilled to lean into the theme of Tuscany for our first offering. In this structured wine class guests will:
- Learn about the importance of Italy as a wine country, and the importance of Tuscany as a wine region.
- Learn about the predominate grape(s) of the area, and how they are produced, bottled and labeled differently. (Did you know that three of the most predominate wines of Tuscany - Chianti, Brunello, and Vino Nobile de Montepulicano - are all made out of the same grape... hello Sangiovese)
- Taste through 6 different Tuscan wines, all while viewing photos of Tuscany wine country that will have you planning your next vacation.
- Learn how to taste wine like a pro.
- Have a lot of fun.
We've intentionally set it up so that the wine class occurs before the free tasting event, in hopes that class attendees will be given the tools to learn about and understand the wine world of Tuscany on a more in-depth basis, and then within the same week they will be able to take everything they've learned and apply it to an open tasting where they will get to experience an additional 6-8 Tuscany wines.
