Description

Join this online collaboration between Providence, Rhode Island’s Lippitt House Museum and Richmond, Virginia’s Maymont Mansion to explore the lives of two post-Civil War business leaders.

A time of increased manufacturing and investment opportunities in both the North and South, Providence’s Charles Lippitt and Richmond’s James Dooley built their families’ wealth while increasing their influence. During this webinar, Katherine Garrett-Cox, Maymont's Curator and Director of Historical Resources and Collections, and Carrie Taylor, Lippitt House Museum's Director, will address the question: How did the power Lippitt and Dooley gained through business impact their local communities, families, and homes?
