Description

Join us for an intimate evening with local artist, Simone Lawrence. Simone will guide us through the process of painting what activism means to us, while providing some history and personal experience of using art as a form of resistance, resilience, and activism. Whether you're celebrating Valentine's Day solo, in a couple, in polycule, or anything else, this event will be the perfect way to show love to yourself and your community through art activism. Tickets include art supplies and mocktails. There are only 16 spots available and sales close on February 10th. Get your tickets today!

Simone Lawrence has worked endlessly at cultivating her lifelong passion and talents in acrylic painting, drawing, mural art, and performance art. She uses her platforms in art and youth mentorship to educate and challenge folx about the history of social justice movements and black excellence. By way of enrichment activities and art therapy, Lawrence hopes to inspire and empower young folks to become growing activists by giving them the space to instill pride in their work, find their voice, express their emotions, and grow firm in their convictions - especially as it relates to the fight against injustice.

$30 tickets include art supplies and a $10 voucher for our concessions stand to get delicious baked goods and yummy mocktails!

This is a vaccine required venue.

Forgot your mask?  No problem!  We always have spares behind the counter.

The Painted Mug Cafe

The Painted Mug Cafe, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a new performance space, venue for rent, and (soon-to-be) full-service café with espresso bar. ‘The Mug’ was developed by a collaborative team of queer artists seeking to serve and empower our LGBTQIA+ community through ambitious programming made accessible—physically and digitally. The café is on track to be worker-owned, and we will reinvest in the QTPOC and disabled artists of our city by prioritizing a shared narrative in our programming. ‘The Mug’ is an intentional LGBTQIA+ performance space and designed to decenter drugs and alcohol.

We seek to provide opportunities for growth for our member-artists, including access to work, talent-incubation, and professional development. We believe a performance space for queer artists designed by queer artists is as empowering as it is unique.

For our neighbors, we seek to be an LGBTQIA+ affirming asset of the community with great coffee, and the venue chosen to host those personal milestone events that will become lifelong happy memories.
