Rosemaling Coast to Coast, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized to celebrate the art of Norwegian rosemaling through a national organization that supports and enriches the artistic activities of the individual. Members study, paint, teach, and promote the love of rosemaling. The skillset is broad, from beginners to highly-skilled, award-winning artists. Formed in 2016, the organization began holding biennial conventions to promote, teach and appreciate the folk art of rosemaling. Class description: Come paint this lovely Vest Agder Harvest Bowl with Jan Boettcher. This is a great project to advance your skills and learn more about the Vest Agder style of Rosemaling. You can see the side view of the project here: Project Photo (side view)
This class has 2 sessions. Class will run for 2 days, 3 hours Friday evening November 6, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and 8 hours Saturday November 7, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM central time Class will include a 1 hour lunch break on Saturday

Medium being used : Oil paint.
Other mediums are allowed. Participants can use oil or other acrylic paint.

Instructor: Jan Boettcher
Instructor biography: Jan has been rosemaling since the 1980’s. She has taken many classes both at Vesterheim and in Norway. She paints 12 different styles of rosemaling. The Vest Agder style is one of her favorites. The project we will be painting is a specially designed Harvest Bowl that lends itself well to the theme of the bowl.
Jan has taught at her home studio, Sugar Creek Art Center in Thorntown, Thorntown Public Library, Sons of Norway, the Society of Decorative conventions, and at the Coast-to-Coast Convention.
She is a member of Vesterheim and received a ribbon for her project, which was painted in the “Os” style.
She is a member of the Illinois Norsk Rosemalers Association and has taught Zoom classes through their organization.

Location: This is an online class hosted on Zoom. All technical requirements needed to join the class are the responsibility of the student. RCC virtual classes will be recorded. All classes are listed in the Central time zone.
