Description
The Visual Arts Center of Richmond’s 8th Annual Chili Throwdown will take place on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a VisArts members-only hour from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Participating restaurants contribute their best chili, which is taste-tested by both a blind jury and the event’s attendees. After guests have voted, they’re welcome to go back for a full bowl of their favorite chili.
In 2019, more than 400 people attended this indoor/outdoor event. Tickets are $25 for VisArts members and $30 for the general public. Kids under age 12 eat for $5 and kids under age 3 eat free. VisArts members are invited to attend the event early, 5:00-6:00 p.m! Adult admission includes a handmade ceramic bowl—made by a VisArts clay artist—and a drink ticket. Additional ceramic bowls are available for purchase.
At the end of the evening, VisArts presents two restaurants with awards—an overall award, selected by the judges, and a people’s choice award.
Event parking will be available at Binford Middle School. The event is both indoors and outdoors. Attendees will be required to wear a mask indoors in compliance with VisArts' COVID-19 policy. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled for October 8, 5:00-9:00 p.m.
