Welcome to the Voices of the Dream: 2026 MLK Regional Choir Competition, proudly hosted by Visit Shreveport-Bossier and its 318 DreamFest steering committee members!
It is with heartfelt joy and anticipation that we invite you to be part of an inaugural celebration that embodies the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., through musical excellence, community spirit, and uplifting voices. This two-day event will be held on January 16-17, 2026, in Shreveport Louisiana. While this event entails healthy and motivational competition, it is above a memorable moment of inspiration, one that honors the multigenerational traditions of choral music that continue to move hearts and bring people together.
This first-ever choir competition’s theme “Celebrating Legacy through Harmony” will showcase three deeply meaningful categories: Gospel, Spirituals, and Inspirational (Sacred/Secular). Each genre carries powerful legacies of faith, resilience, and hope and we are excited to hear how your choirs will bring these stories to life through song. To recognize the incredible talent and dedication on display, we are pleased to offer cash prizes and trophies as incentives.
We recognize that each performance reflects countless hours of preparation, dedication, practice, and passion. Your commitment to your craft and willingness to share your gifts with the community are truly commendable. Whether you’re singing boldly in the Gospel tradition, stirring souls through timeless Spirituals, or lifting hearts through inspirational selections, your voices matter, and we are deeply grateful for your consideration to participate.
As we look ahead to this important gathering, let us celebrate not only the competition, but the unifying power of music and the shared love that it brings. May every note serve as a reminder of the lasting power of harmony.
