Description

From its indigenous people to European settlement and incorporation as one of America’s first cities, York has a long and fascinating history. As the center of government for Colonial Maine, the people of this place first known by its Abenaki name of Agamenticus, experienced much turmoil at the frontier area between Colonial New England and French Canada. This walking tour of Old York, located at the center of York Village, will explore our earliest roots as well as the farming and maritime trades that developed.

If you enjoy colonial history and are looking for a surprisingly revealing tour about one of this nation’s oldest communities, reserve your spot today. The tour is suitable for history buffs of all ages, and in particular families.

The tour lasts approximately an hour, and covers a three-block area along York Street. The terrain is uneven, and comfortable shoes are recommended.

This tour is limited to 16 people.
