Watercolor is a common painting medium, but can be surprisingly difficult to learn on your own! Join watercolorist Max Mandell and learn some beautiful, simple techniques that you can use in your paintings. This monthly class held on 2nd Wednesdays, and each class focuses on different topics so you can continue to hone your craft!
December: Lifting: When it comes to watercolor, people rarely think of subtracting paint from their page. You can achieve fantastic results when you LIFT paint off the page. We will use paper towels, sponges, and specialized paint brushes to create stunning textures at every stage of painting!
January: Gradients, Bleeds, and Blends: Capture the beautiful, transparent nature of watercolor in this introductory class. You'll learn to mix color on the page and on the palette while you build your watercolor confidence!
February: Additives: In this class, we'll play around with texture and color. Isopropyl alcohol, salt, and masking fluid will help you create dazzling effects in your watercolor compositions.
March: Colored Pencils and Watercolor: This formidable duo can create some BEAUTIFUL, illustrative effects. The waxy medium of pencil layered with the delicate look of watercolor is bigger than the sum of its parts.
All materials are provided for this class. This class is recommended for students 14 and up.
Push/Pull member Max Mandell has been exploring the watercolor medium for 8 years, and is delighted to share his love for watercolor with you.
