Friberg’s trio will be hosting an eve of genre-blending/bending never performed (by us) 14 ditties. Expect a bold mix of jazz-rooted, soul-drenched, funk-infused sounds from modern icons: Domi & JD Beck • Thundercat • Vulfpeck • Knower • Adam Ratner • Kurt Rosenwinkel • Mikkel Ploug • Fredrico Heliodoro • Ambrose Akinmusire • Tony Davis. From intricate sonorous textures to Brazilian-jazz fusions, to pop vocals running wild through narrow gauntlets — modern improvisation through the lens of these post-millennial creators, is anything but traditional but holy schnikes is it lit. Oh — and watch out for a surprise drop from the OG disruptor: J.S. Bach (yeah, that Bach) to complete the eve's sonic tour.
