Description
Join us on January 24th for our first “What’s in the Whitney Library?” of 2026. Roots and Routes explores the history of New Haven’s park system through the maps, parks department reports, and personal records that shaped the city’s green spaces. Drawing from archival collections and scrapbooks, our event traces how parks were planned, used, and cherished over time. Highlights include displays on the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Judge’s Cave, and Donald Grant Mitchell’s watercolor maps, offering a richly layered look at how nature, memory, and civic life intersect across New Haven’s landscape.
