Description

In-person

This Jane’s Walk, taking place between Midtown and Downtown, focuses on themes of art, architecture, history, and culture.

Join Scott Morris — researcher, architectural historian, and educator — for a tour will that will cover the blocks where Downtown meets Midtown! You’ll have opportunities to see residential, commercial, and sacred architecture, plus MARTA rail stations, public art, and skyline views (bring your camera)!

This route includes buildings from the 1880s to the 21st century, and we'll take time to discuss the history and planning decisions that shaped this vibrant area of Atlanta!

The Details

  • Distance of Walk: ~ 1 mile

About Jane's Walk

Jane’s Walk is an annual global festival honoring the legacy of urbanist, activist, and writer Jane Jacobs with free, citizen-led walking tours through the neighborhoods that lend so much character to our cities.

The festival promotes civic engagement and encourages leaders and participants to share stories about their communities and use walking as a means of connecting with their neighbors.

About the Leader of This Walk

Scott was born and raised in Atlanta Morningside neighborhood and has nearly 20 years of experience as a researcher, architectural historian, and educator. He's an instructor with GSU's heritage preservation program, a professional historian in the Midtown neighborhood, and he's passionate about the built environment! Most importantly, Scott wants to partner with fellow Atlantans to make a difference!
