Description

Cowra Ballet School Presents - Where Truffula Trees Grow

Twelve-year-old Ted (Natasha Smaluck) lives in a place virtually devoid of nature; no flowers

or trees grow in the town of Thneedville, and residents must buy air from the Mayor, Mr

O’Hare (Sara Rush). Ted would very much like to win the heart of Audrey (Addison Skinner),

the girl of his dreams, but to do this, he must find that which she most desires: a Truffula

tree. To get it, Ted enlists the help of his Mum (Kayli Hurst) and Grandma (Alli-Rose

Cranney), who direct him to the outskirts of town to find a man named the Once-ler (Callie

Bridges). The Once-ler tells Ted the story of his life as a young Oncey (Allie Melhuish) and

his interactions with the gruff guardian of the forest, The Lorax (Millie Hampton).

WELCOME TO COWRA CIVIC CENTRE

The Cowra Civic Centre regularly hosts live performances, cinema screenings, civic events, balls and seminars. The centre has two spaces - the main auditorium seating 335 people and the theatrette seating up to 80 people.

Located on Wiradjuri Country in Central West NSW, the Cowra Civic Centre was officially open December 5, 1969. The first performance took place on 18 March, 1970 - a production of Sweeney Todd, a play performed by the Cowra Musical & Dramatic Society as part of the Festival of Lachlan Valley (now known as the Festival of International Understanding).

Since then the venue has gone on to host live performances, civic events, film screenings, balls and even a wrestling match.
