Description
The best way to learn about wine is to compare it with things in our world that we already know. It is well known that wine goes well with food. Let's take it a step further and pair wine with art! If you look at the fundamental elements of wine and art and compare them, you'll be excited to see that there is a lot of influence and cross-over between the two. A great place to do this is at The Hickory House! Have you had a chance to visit their world class Bed & Breakfast yet? (TAKE A PEEK HERE) At this event you will be able to do flex your wine palate, your art brain, and your creativity while supporting two local businesses.
This event is limited to the first 25 guests. Tickets are $40 each. Here is how the event will work:
- Guests arrive at The Bighorn where they sample through 3 wines side by side.
- Guests receive a tasting sheet and pen. Their goal is to match the 3 wines tasting to the descriptions on their paper.
- Once this has been completed, guests then take their paper, pen and a stemless Bighorn wine glass with them to The Hickory House where Shawn will be waiting to greet them.
- The Hickory House has ornate decor every where you look; yet each room has a unique style and feel to it. Vanessa from The Bighorn and Shawn from The Hickory House worked together in selecting wines that evoke the same artistic expression communicated through the decor in each room.
- Guests will first tour the main floor. As guests view the 3 rooms being used for this event on the main floor, they can compare the description of the wines they tasted with the look of each room, and try to guess which wine was selected to represent which room.
- Once they have toured each of the 3 rooms on the main floor and have completed their matching, they will return to Shawn who will then pour them three additional wines.
- Guest will go through the same process of matching the wines tasted with the descriptions written out on the paper. And then they will take it a step further by matching those descriptions with the look and art and feel of 3 rooms on the second level of The Hickory House.
- Once guests have completed the second round of tasting and pairing, they will return to Shawn who will reveal the answers to them.
If guests find a wine they enjoy, they are welcome to take their form back to The Bighorn and pre-order their favorites.
If guests are interested in staying the night with The Hickory House, they will take reservations for the evening, (assuming guests are okay with not being able to check in until 7:30pm rather than the usual 3pm due to the event occurring on-premises.)
