Join us at MODA for Wine & Design—an evening of flavor, design, and discovery. Enjoy a complimentary drink, a guided tour of BITTERSWEET: The Design of Chocolate, and a tasting of small-batch chocolate from Xocolatl.
Then hear from James Navia, founder of Codex Chocolate, a company crafting nutrient-rich chocolate that’s as good for your body as it is for your taste buds. Codex blends ethical dark chocolate with ingredients like protein, fiber, and cocoa flavanols—compounds linked to heart and brain health—offering a smarter way to indulge.
With a background in food tech and supply chain strategy, James brings a fascinating perspective on how thoughtful design can reshape even the most beloved treat.
What to Expect:
- Arrive at 5:30 PM and kick off the evening by enjoying a glass of wine or prosecco in our welcoming Design Shop. Mingle with fellow design and chocolate enthusiasts and let the excitement build!
- At 6:00 PM, embark on a captivating guided tour of the exhibition BITTERSWEET: The Design of Chocolate. Discover the rich cultural narratives shaping chocolate production and appreciate the artistry involved in every step of the process.
- At 6:45 PM, be inspired by James Navia as he shares his family's incredible food technology legacy, beginning in 1960s Cuba. Learn why Codex Chocolate stands out as a better-for-you option, and indulge in an exclusive tasting of unique flavors like Almond Coconut, Hazelnut Chia, and Salted Peanut. When you add a $10 donation to your purchase, you provide a free ticket to someone for whom cost is a barrier to visiting MODA.
Accessibility: Designers with different styles of learning or special needs are welcome in MODA public programs. We will be able to most effectively help everyone learn and enjoy this experience if we know about those needs in advance of the program. Please email miranda@museumofdesign.org with questions or information.
Cancellation Policy: MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum enrollment requirements are not met, but don't worry: should MODA have to cancel, we will gladly issue a full refund to all registrants. If you need to cancel your plans for any reason, we kindly request that you notify us at least 7 days prior to the event start. By doing so, we can process a refund for the ticket cost (minus a small $10 processing fee per class). Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for cancellations made less than 7 days before an event.
