153 Hospital StreetIn the winter months, Maine is becomes home to a new variety of bird species. It is hard to believe, but Maine serves as a winter migratory destination for many species that spend their summers in Canada. Winter birding presents new challenges and opportunities for the beginning birder. You can expect to see resident bird species such as Chickadee and Cardinal, as well as migratory winter finches on this walk. Bird abundance is less predictable in the winter.
Please come prepared to walk up to a mile, and come dressed for Maine winter weather. If conditions permit, snowshoes are available to rent in the Visitor Center for an additional cost. In the event of extreme weather conditions including high wind, below zero temperatures, snow or rain, we will reschedule this event for the following Saturday.

Viles Arboretum is a free, easily accessible, botanical garden that is open from dawn to dusk, seven days a week. The space include six miles of trails, 20 botanical collections, and local stone art works (all marked and signed), on 224 acres.
