For two nights only, step into the world of Witch Play — a new theatrical work created by writer/director Maya June Dwyer, loosely inspired by Pablo Agüero’s acclaimed 2020 film Akelarre.

In a seaside village — maybe, or maybe not, long ago and far away — six young people are abducted and imprisoned in a barn, accused of witchcraft and awaiting interrogation. When it becomes clear that there’s no way to prove their innocence to the presiding Judge, they devise a dangerous plan: to manipulate their captors by offering something irresistible — a chance to witness a real witches’ Sabbath. Witch Play taps into the 21st century revival of the witch as a timeless symbol of resistance.

Presented after five days of intensive rehearsal, this semi-script-in-hand workshop features ten Syracuse-based actors performing in one of The Gear Factory's most evocative warehouse spaces. We invite you to experience this bold new work up close and in its earliest public form before it moves into full production in 2026.

Produced by Maya June Dwyer with the support of Breadcrumbs Productions, Le Moyne College, and The Gear Factory.

Cash only at the door. Extremely limited seating - recommended to reserve online ASAP.
