Description

Jason Wussow and Veikko Lepisto have been playing stripped-down, acoustic ska as Woodblind since the tail end of 2013. Though they often perform as a duo, with just a guitar and stand-up bass, they also call on a wide cast of supporting players at times. For Homegrown, their expanded Woodblind “Jubilee Super Big Band” features Jimi Cooper on lead guitar, Eli Bissonett on fiddle, Eric Cyr on trombone, George Ellsworth on organ, Teague Alexy on harmonica, Jen West with some sweet harmonies, Tyler Dubla on drums, and Bryan “Lefty” Johnson on percussion.

Singer-songwriter Mark Blom creates relaxed yet energetic alternative rock tunes with a post-punk flair. Teaming up with him to hold down the rhythm section and drive the beat forward are bassist Jeremy Craig and drummer Tyler Dubla. Together, the three have recorded an EP titled Impetus, released in 2018. With track titles such as “Get It, Got It, Good,” “Motivational Speaker,” “Dog Dreams,” and “Ho-Hum,” the album offers songs with a stream-of-consciousness, matter-of-fact tone – while still remaining catchy, approachable, and refreshing. Hardaybra has also been featured in Wussow’s One Week Live, Vol. 17, a compilation album of bands from the local scene.
