Description

Join us for our brand new WORDS OF PARADISE speaker series, where we host as series of  interesting people doing interesting things in the world. For this series, we'll join Kent Thompkins, Jay Canode and Dine' Medicine Men: Anderson Hoskie, and Harrison Jim, for an evening of lecture, storytelling AND ceremony, based in Dine' BeautyWay tradition. This lineage honors diversity and inclusion. This path reminds us that our strongest shield and power resides in our softness amid an underlying fierceness and unity. Add some quantum physics, knowledge of natural order, herbal medicines and ancient wisdom and that's a good enough start for a very special evening.

The Talk will feature:

  • Bringing twenty years of residence on the Dine' (aka Navajo) Rez amid Medicine Men and Women and everyday occurrences, stories.
  • A visual visit to sacred sites and recent interviews with Kent's colleagues, Anderson Hoskie and Harrison Jim, both Dine' Medicine Men. Together we will paint both a visual and storytelling picture of Dine'tah, the Place of Emergence for the Dine' and other southwestern Tribes. Dine'tah is located in NW New Mexico, where Kent co-directed a five year documentary project with his good friend Will Tsosie, Jr. with funding through the Arizona Commission on the Arts.
  • Jay and Kent recently traveled with various other artists, curators and Anderson Hoskie and Harrison Jim, You will hear segments of the Medicine Men's interpretation of this sacred place and how it connects with various ceremonies alive today throughout their traditions, healing practices and all of humankind.
